This course aims to introduce students to primary security issues in the Western Pacific region and provide some tools to consider the subject. Topics to be covered include the cross-Taiwan Strait dispute, territorial disputes in the South China Sea and East China Sea, international security structure in the Western Pacific, and emerging technology and societal resilience.

This course aims to provide students who have taken INTA 3131/6131 Pacific Security Issues with immersive experiences to verify and rethink the primary security issues in the Western Pacific region. Topics to be covered include the cross-Taiwan Strait dispute, territorial disputes in the South China Sea and East China Sea, and international security structure in the Western Pacific. The immersive environment also allows the course to introduce on-site learning about emerging technology and societal resilience that the Atlanta campus cannot offer.

Explores use of big data techniques to problems at the national and international levels. Topics may include cybersecurity, surveillance, economic development, behavioral prediction and manipulation.

Surveys the main traditions and theories of international ethics with a focus on intervention and the use of force, human rights, self-determination, and global distributive justice.
