Optics principles, including waves, reflection, refraction, absorption, scattering, group velocity, lasers, polarization, geometrical optics, the Fourier transform, coherence, interference, and diffraction. The modality of this course is mainly graded for credit but could be discussed by the student and the faculty mentor.  This course shares lectures with Physics 3232, but includes more advanced material and more difficult problems.
