Catalog Description

ID 4823 introduces tactile design as a language for creating inclusive, multisensory artifacts that engage touch, sound, and movement. Students work in mixed-ability teams and with community partners to develop skills in prototyping, tactile communication, universal design for learning, accessible documentation, and multimodal AI. Using tools such as embossers, 3D printers, and screen readers, students build professional competencies in assistive technology, inclusive UX, co-design, and project-based practice. Framing disability as a source of design leadership and innovation, the course emphasizes ethical, future-facing approaches to embodied interaction and accessible creative work.
