Catalog Description

This course provides undergraduate students with academic credit for engaging in independent or semi-independent research under the guidance of a Georgia Tech faculty advisor. Students take an active role in shaping and executing a research project, building on prior coursework and research experience. While the course does not include formal lectures or examinations, students participate in structured, self-directed inquiry that may involve problem formulation, literature review, data collection and analysis, and interpretation of findings. Areas of inquiry may span computing and interdisciplinary domains, including computational social science, human-centered computing, and the study of digital behavior and well-being, as well as the broader societal implications of data-driven technologies. The scope and direction of the work are determined collaboratively by the student and advisor.
