This course provides academic credit for independent studies under the direction of a faculty member. The scope and direction of the studies are determined by the student (or small group of students) in consultation with the course instructor.

This course enables the School of Mathematics to comply with requests for courses in selected topics.

The aim of this course is to provide support to senior graduate students and postdocs throughout their job search process. Students may be targeting jobs in academia, in industry, or both. In this course, students will learn about the basic skills of the job search and the resources that they should leverage throughout their job search. By the end of the course, students will create the documents needed for job applications and will practice interview skills.

This course is run as a seminar course, with some class meetings and some individual meetings. This course is tailored to the needs of the individual students who register for the course.

Communication support for School of Math international graduate students, post-docs, and new faculty who are non-native speakers of American English and who will be teaching undergraduate students. The primary topics of this course are: correct language usage & cross-cultural aspects of teaching undergraduates.
