Directed research and writing of a master’s thesis under the supervision of the thesis advisor. Students conduct original research in computational science and engineering and prepare a thesis document that meets the requirements of the Graduate Studies office. 

This course provides academic credit for independent thesis research conducted under the supervision of a Georgia Tech faculty advisor. The course does not involve regular class meetings, assignments, or examinations. The scope and direction of research are determined by the student in consultation with the thesis advisor, consistent with the requirements of the degree program.

Thermodynamics of nonreacting and reacting gas mixtures. Introductory quantum theory, statistical thermodynamics, and gas kinetic theory. Crosslisted with ME 6765.

Fundamental conservation laws. Laminar flows, wall-bound and free shear flows. Separation, heat transfer, and compressibility effects. Introduction to flow instability and transition to turbulence.
