Catalog Description

This course provides undergraduate students with academic credit for engaging in independent or semi-independent research under the guidance of a Georgia Tech faculty advisor. Students take an active role in shaping and executing a research project, building on prior coursework and research experience. While the course does not include formal lectures or examinations, students participate in structured, self-directed inquiry that may involve problem formulation, literature review, data collection and analysis, and interpretation of findings. Areas of inquiry may span computing and interdisciplinary domains, including computational social science, human-centered computing, and the study of digital behavior and well-being, as well as the broader societal implications of data-driven technologies. The scope and direction of the work are determined collaboratively by the student and advisor.

Catalog Description

This course is designed to introduce you to problem-solving, designing, and analyzing algorithms with the MATLAB programming language. The course assumes no prior knowledge of programming skills. At the end of this course, students will develop a beginner's skill level for deriving algorithms, as well as become familiar with MATLAB. To achieve this, the course will use real-world data to guide students through understanding and applying it to achieve a goal, and then output or display the results in an appropriate format.
