The course introduces the theory and philosophy of sustainability and how that theory is implemented through the public and private sectors.

Development of the ability to extract meaning from multivariate data sets configured in formats amenable to statistical analysis in social science and policy analysis. This course introduces multivariate data collection, production, description, management and presentation for public policy; multivariate probability distributions; inferential statistics with multivariate data sets; graphical methods for multivariate data analysis; and the use of statistical programming languages.

Exposes students to essential theories and concepts for analyzing, understanding, and managing teams in the context of complex interdependent public problems. Credit not awarded for both PUBP 1142 and PUBP 2142.

This course is an introduction to American government and politics and is a foundational course elective required by the State of Georgia.   While national level policy making, and governance is designed to address issues facing our nation as a whole, state and local governance addresses policy issues that affect our everyday lives. In order to truly understand American government, we must understand how these parts work – separately and together.

The class is divided into six components.   The first six are lecture and speaker based.    They include the U.S. Constitution/Georgia Constitution, the Federal Government, the Federal Supreme Court, Georgia State Government and Local Government (Cities, Counties, School Boards).   The last component is student policy engagement.    The basis of this section, through group projects and speakers, is to teach students the importance and how to directly engage in the policy making process to enact change.  This section is divided into Aspire, Organize, Learn and Act assignments. 

How government regulates business and markets, and how business exercises power and influence on government in areas such as antitrust, financial markets, safety and health, and environmental quality.

This course provides academic credit for independent thesis research conducted under the supervision of a Georgia Tech faculty advisor. The course does not involve regular class meetings, assignments, or examinations. The scope and direction of research are determined by the student in consultation with the thesis advisor, consistent with the requirements of the degree program
