This course provides academic credit for independent thesis research conducted under the supervision of a Georgia Tech faculty advisor. The course does not involve regular class meetings, assignments, or examinations. The scope and direction of research are determined by the student in consultation with the thesis advisor, consistent with the requirements of the degree program.

This course explores the ethical and philosophical dimensions of artificial intelligence, and it examines policies that can, or should, govern its development and use.

Introduction to social gerontology and technology policy, covering foundational theories of aging; recent research on gerontechnology, AgeTech, and artificial intelligence, including social experiments and policy initiatives in South Korea and the United States; and contemporary issues at the intersection of aging and technology. Emphasis on comparative policy analysis, data science, and social justice across the life course. 

Topics of interest not covered in the regular course offerings.

Examination of current state of scientific knowledge regarding stem cells and historical development, relevant ethical issues, and policy considerations.
