Catalog Description

An introduction to the physical principles governing living systems from the molecular to the cellular scale. This course explores how biological processes are fundamentally constrained by physical laws. Students will apply statistical physics, soft matter mechanics, and fluid dynamics to build quantitative, data-driven models of biological phenomena, including energy transduction, molecular motors, and cellular movement. No prior biological knowledge is required.
