Catalog Description

This course introduces students to the principles and practices of construction project management from both the project manager's and the contractor's perspectives. Emphasis is placed on the Project Management Institute (PMI) project lifecycle: Initiating, Planning, Executing, Monitoring & Controlling, and Closing, with a primary focus on the Initiating and Planning phases. Students will examine the duties, responsibilities, and tools required to develop a comprehensive project plan, including a project schedule (ACCE SLO 5). The course also highlights how early planning decisions influence execution, monitoring, and overall project success.
