Catalog Description

The heightened and sensitized perception that arises through studying film—an opportunity to slow things down, to take great care, to replay film moments that give rise to feelings—suggests how film can be a microcosm and model for how we learn and live. This iteration of Intro to Film, built specifically for Georgia Tech-Europe students, teaches the foundational elements of cinema (mise-en-scène, cinematography, editing, sound) through canonical examples of French and European films. Through embodied and cinematic experience that draws upon the region’s culture, students will have the opportunity to compare film—an art that combines space and time—with traveling.
