Explores the contemporary European security environment, including threats, challenges, and various security architectures (e.g., NATO, the WEU, and the OSCE).

This course introduces students to the idea and practice of diplomacy — the conduct of relations between states and other entities with standing in international affairs by official agents and by peaceful means. It will examine the rationale for diplomacy; the evolution of diplomatic practice from early statecraft to contemporary multilateral diplomacy; the different diplomatic norms, institutions, practices, skills, and actors; and the various facets of diplomacy today.

Undergraduate Internship for International Affairs for academic credit.

This course introduces the student to the fascinating world in our time. We will learn the basics of international politics, global economy, culture, demography and social life. Through that, we aim to develop skills of understanding the organization of and the interaction among the peoples, as well as the context of the mega trends that are shaping the future of the humankind. We will have ample discussion about some of the current events and their background. As a gateway, this class attempts to inform about the world today and set the stage for further explorations of international affairs.

There is no prerequisite for taking this course. 

Analyzes the formulation and implementation of America's foreign policy from 1914 to the present, stressing economic, political, and strategic factors.
